Grow Shirley Poppies
Poppies make a wonderful addition to the garden. Their vibrant colors are spectacular and they bring many bees and butterflies. Here are a few shirley poppies I grow in my garden.
Supreme
Purple Peony
American Legion
Mother of Pearl
Hungarian Blue
Amazing Gray
To harvest viable seeds, wait until pods are completely dry.
When they are ready, the pods rattle and you will see little holes at the top of the pod. Each pod contains hundreds of tiny seeds.
Dry them for a couple of weeks. And store them in a cool and dark place.
While they self seed, I usually sow them in winter on the soil surface to germinate.
And they sprout in spring for sure.
