Which one is better: Chicken Wire or Wire Mesh?

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish but I prefer wire mesh in general. Here are a couple of my reasons:

1. Aesthetically wire mesh is more pleasing.

2. Wire mesh well fences out small animals 

For example. I used chicken wire at first for my small nursery. I couldn’t get away from the attacks from chipmunks. When I replaced it with wire mesh. The attacks stopped.

Here is another example. I built the fence using chicken wire under the deck to keep out raccoons or skunks. But it allowed mice and other small creatures. It also made my house look cheap. So I replaced it.
